Montebello Villa Hotel is the oldest existing hotel in Cebu, Philippines, having opened on February 14, 1972. It is the only garden hotel and resort in Cebu City, situated on a sprawling four-hectare landscape that reflects the richness of Cebu’s Hispanic heritage. The hotel provided us with a clean and comfortable stay in an area undergoing upgrades. The staff were friendly and accommodating, although there were slight issues with gift exchange rules communication. It was a peaceful oasis amidst the chaos of the city, with beautiful surroundings and fantastic accessibility to the central business district and major attractions.
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were spacious but dated and unclean, with the unpleasant surprise of spotting a cockroach in the toilet. Despite being pricey, the lack of free breakfast and a bathtub was disappointing. However, the service was top-notch, with very friendly and helpful staff. Overall, the hotel is a bit overpriced for what it offers.
